Things to do at Journey Behind the Falls

Journey Behind the Falls is Table Rock's signature attraction: an elevator drops visitors through 45 metres of bedrock to two tunnels that end at open portals facing the Horseshoe Falls from behind the curtain, plus an outdoor viewing deck at the base of the falls.

It runs year-round, with ponchos provided at the entrance, but the lower outdoor deck closes for winter, leaving only the tunnels and portals open from roughly November to April. Expect 45 minutes to an hour with queuing in July and August.

This is not the Cave of the Winds on the American side, where wooden walkways put you at the base of Bridal Veil Falls in the open air; here the portals are cut into rock, and the roar and spray come through gaps in the stone. Shoes get soaked regardless of the poncho.
