Getting to Niagara Falls from Montreal

Montreal sits roughly 650 kilometres from Niagara Falls, Ontario, a 6- to 7-hour drive on Highway 401 in normal traffic, without factoring in stops or the stretch through the Toronto area, which regularly runs slower. There is no direct fast train: VIA Rail routes require a change in Toronto, and the combined trip can run past 10 hours depending on connections.

Flying via Toronto Pearson (YYZ) is often the more realistic option for a weekend, with a rental car or GO Transit covering the last leg. Budget the trip in CAD throughout, since both cities are in Canada.

This is a long-haul add-on to a Niagara trip, not a side trip, and it should not be confused with the 130-kilometre run to Toronto, which is a different and much shorter drive.
