Things to do in Washington, DC

Washington, DC is not a day trip from Niagara Falls, and it should not be sold as one. From the American side, it is roughly 600 kilometres (about 370 miles) of driving, which runs 6 to 7 hours depending on the route through Pennsylvania or via I-90 and I-81, before traffic around Harrisburg or the Beltway.

There is no direct train and no nonstop flight from the Niagara region: flying means routing through Buffalo (BUF) with a connection, and a one-way fare plus the connection typically lands somewhere in the 150 to 350 USD range depending on how far ahead you book. Treat Washington as a separate trip with its own dates, not an add-on to a Niagara itinerary.

Travellers looking for a closer next stop after the falls should look at Buffalo or New York City instead.
