Things to do in Oakville

Oakville sits on the QEW between Hamilton and Mississauga, roughly 90 km (55 minutes without traffic) from Niagara Falls and about 35 km short of downtown Toronto, which makes it a convenient stop rather than a reason to leave the highway on its own.

The town is affluent and residential, and the appeal is a walkable waterfront: the harbour at Bronte and the marina and lighthouse pier at downtown Oakville, plus a compact historic core along Lakeshore Road with cafes and independent shops. 8 square kilometres and has trails, a farm animal area and a splash pad in summer.

Budget an hour or two here, not a full day, and treat it as a break in the drive rather than a detour that adds meaningful distance.
